Due to vigorous efforts for vacation of guarantees, Government could reduce the level of outstanding guarantee to Rs. 9979.76 Crore, which stood at Rs.17624.54 Crore & Rs 19000.99 crore as on 31st March 2004 & 31st March 2003 respectively. Vigorous pursuit for vacation made it possible to bring down the level of outstanding guarantees at Rs. 9979.76 Cr. Administrative Departments & PSUs have been instructed to pursue for the timely repayment of guaranteed debts and vacate guarantees as and when substantial amounts of loan/bond are repaid.
