• The Modified Budget Estimates for the year 2004-2005 show total estimated revenue of Rs. 30453.48 Crore. Wherein loan against the investment of Small Savings, the loan to be received from the Central Government and loan to be received from World Bank as well as Asian Development Bank are also included.

• Against the above mentioned receipts, the estimated total expenditure is estimated at Rs. 30958.28 Crore, out of which the Revenue Expenditure is estimated to be Rs. 23786.33 Crore and in the Capital head the estimated expenditure is Rs. 7171.95 Crore.

• Keeping in view the Revenue Deficit of last four years, there has been gradual decrease in the Revenue Deficit.

As per the Modified Budget Estimates for the year 2004-2005 taking into consideration the amount of Rs. 384.28 Crore registered as the grant¬in-aid in Revenue Expenditure and which is to be used for the Capital works the actual Revenue Deticit will be Rs. 2588.38 Crore. Thus due to prudent financial planning economy measures and intensive efforts to increase income the Revenue deficit of the State has been controlled.

• Keeping in view the assistance to be received from World Bank and Asian Development Bank the State Government has made the provision of Rs. 1085.72 Crore for the plan expenditure under the head "Gujarat Disaster Management Authority" and that of Rs.18.34 Crore for non-plan expenditure. Moreover the provision of Rs. 10.50 Crore is made for Industrial Concession. Rs. 2 Crore for Tourism Sector and Rs. 5.83 Crore for other areas that have not been covered.

• A provision of Rs. 1065.47 Crore has been made under various sectors for the overall development of the tribals.

• An amount of Rs. 379.14 Crore has been provided to take care of any Natural calamity

• In order to promote the girl's education. Vidya Laxmi Yojana has been Started. Keeping in view the best results of this scheme, an amount of Rs.
1 Crore will be given in the form of bond to 1.5 lakh girls of 1000 villages
to encourage them. These villages are very backward in girl's education. An amount of Rs. 15 crore has been provided to this purpose.

• In order to overcome the deficit of rooms for the primary schools, it is planned to construct more than 9000/- rooms by the State Government and 5000/- rooms through donors in the year 2004-2005.

• The net domestic product of the State has been estimated at Rs. 1,66,064 Crore at the current rate which shows the increase of 20 percent in the development of the State in comparison to that of the year 2002-2003.

• The Volume of the State Annual Scheme has been fixed at Rs. 8300 Crore. Wherein a provision of Rs. 3107.90 Crore has been earmarked for Social Services amounting to 37.55 percent of total provision. Top priority has been accorded to the social service sector wherein drinking water, primary education, housing, health care and nutrition as well as Gramoday Scheme of the Prime Minister is also included.

• An amount of Rs. 900/- Crore has been provided for Sardar Sarovar Project which amounts to 10.84 percent of total plan provision, it is aimed to complete the lining works of branch canal having the length of 271 Km. during the current year. By completing the work of raising the height of main dam upto 110.64 Mt, before the monsoon the 250 MW Canal head power house will be operational by August. 2004.

• To provide water to dry land and dry underground under Sujalam Suflam Scheme of Rs. 6200 Crore a provision of Rs. 1165 Crore has been made during the current year. Besides this during the current Development Investment of Rs. 2365 Crore will be made from Loknayak Jayprakash Narayan Fund of NABARD and HUDCO and another Financial Institutions.

• 21 dry rivers and hundreds of ponds will he rejuvenated by Sujalam Suflam Canal, having length admeasuring 280 Km. by flood water of Mahi river having the volume of 700 million cubic metres which is draining out into the sea.

• 17 rivers and 107 big check-dams of Surendranagar district wiII be Permanently tilled with water by Sujalam Sufalam Scheme.

• It has heen planned to make the farmers of the State independent in the matter of water by completing the construction work of 1.25 lakhs farm-ponds in the State under Water Storage and Ground Water Recharge Programmes.

• The State Government has decided to provide potable clean water to the municipalities of the State by starting an ambitious scheme namely Amritdhara.

• Peoples Education drive will be undertaken through T.V. and C.D. to provide health oriented information to women under Matruvandana Y ojana and planning to provide free service of Government/Private expert medical practitioner to woman of every poor family under this scheme.

• With a view to providing wheat and rice to the families living below poverty-line. the provision of Rs. 108 Crore and to give 25 kg. grain per family living in very poor condition under Antyoday Anna Yojana, a provision of Rs. 9 Crore has been made.

• It has been planned to recruit sufficient number of Vidhya Sahayaks under the scheme of "One class-room one teacher and one teacher evey classroom" under primary education.

• A provision of Rs. 8 Crore has been made to impart training to teacher's principal's trustees and administrative staff under Karmayogi Yojana under secondarv education.

• It is planned to reduce pollution by giving incentives for using CN.G. in the field of automobile by creating necessary facilities through Gujarat State.

• Petro net limited for protection of environment.

• In order to provide round the clock electricity to villages a provision of

• Rs. 100 Crore has been made for Jyotigram Yojana which is the brain child of the Honourable Chief Minister and is having people's participation.

• A provision of Rs. 44 Crore has been made for the development of Textile Industry with the collaboration of the Government of India. it has been planned to develop two Garment parks at Surat and Ahmedabad.

• It has been planned to establish three industrial parks of Diamond and Jewellary including one at Surat and fwo at Ahmedabad.

• Under Vajpayee Bankable Scheme, a provision of Rs.24 crore has been made for the artisans who are willing to self-employment under cottage industry sector and thereby creating more opportunities of employment.

• An allocation of Rs. 89.17 Crore has been made for different schemes of welfare and development of Scheduled Caste.

• A provision of Rs.89 Crore has been made for the overall development and welfare of Nomadic and Denotitied Tribes.

• A new scheme of giving Taxashila Award to the voluntarv institutions and Pujya Ravishankar Maharaj Award to the persons doing the welfare activity for socially and educationally backvvard classes is gliing to be implemented.

• A provision of Rs. 111.83 crore has been made for social security and rehabilitation of the destitute, Children handicapped old and infirm persons.

• A provision of Rs. 132 Crore has been suggested under Sardar Patel Awas Yojana.

• A provision of Rs. 21.80Crore has been made with the determination of making all the Grampanchayats as E-Gram under Vishva Gram Yojana.

• A provision of Rs. 5 Crore has been made for welfare and entertainment of rural people under Gramvatika Yojana.

• Under Rashtriya Sam Vikas Yojana the Government of India has selected Dangs and Dahod District. An assistance of Rs. 37.50 Crore is estimated to be received from the Governmellt of India.

• With the aim of increasing income of the transport department of the State provision of Rs. 4 Crore for the modernisation of the check¬posts and of Rs. 1 Crore for the building have been made.

• A provision of Rs. 131 Crore has been made for Modernisation of Police Force.
